A yellow kart speeds down a night street at 118 km/h while the HUD shows six humans left in Zombie Tag — Zombie Tag: six humans left and 47 seconds on the clock.

The rules

Demolition dust turns the first drivers into zombies. Zombies chase; humans run. One touch from a zombie and you turn, and now you hunt your old team. The human count at the top drops fast. The last humans still standing when the horn sounds go through to the next round.

It is the classic playground game also called infection, virus or "it" tag, with one difference: everyone is driving a kart at 100 km/h through a city that is falling down.

How to survive as a human

Keep moving. A stopped kart is an easy catch. Drift round corners to keep your speed.
Use nitro to escape, not to show off. Save it for when a zombie is on your bumper.
Watch the minimap. The coloured dots tell you where the pack is heading.
Avoid dead ends. Open roads give you somewhere to go.

How to hunt as a zombie

Work together. Two zombies coming from different sides catch more humans than one long chase.
Cut corners and use shortcuts; humans tend to stay on the main road.
Items still work, so slow a human down before you go for the touch.

Where Zombie Tag fits

Zombie Tag is a party round: it joins the Show's roulette when you play in a party with friends, together with Hide & Seek and Musical Parking. The Show is a knockout of short rounds; the finalists race to a helicopter in The Getaway while knocked-out players, now Wreckers, drop rubble on them.

Two finalists race down a desert road in The Getaway while knocked-out players watch as Wreckers — The Getaway: two finalists left, six Wreckers dropping rubble.

It makes a good Halloween party game too: see our Halloween games online page.
